Engraved Leatherman Tools and Inventory

Inventory across the world has been a big problem for the last 12 months. The items mostly affected are products from China. Fortunately, engraved Leatherman tools are made in the United States, in Oregon. So, the supply chain problems have been minimal for them.

The other widespread problem has been the labor shortage. I don’t know if Leatherman has been affected by that. According to the Leatherman careers web page, they are looking for job applicants at this time.

We currently have enough inventory of the most popular Leatherman tools. So if you order some, you will likely be in luck.

Supply Chain Issues Have Little Effect on Engraved Leatherman Tools

Great news! Engraved Leatherman Tools aren’t imported from China. They are made in the USA. Some parts are made overseas, but the final assembly is always done in Oregon at the Leatherman factory.

The recent supply chain problems that affect many products are a result of the Covid lockdowns in China. This week, the Advertising Specialy Institute (ASI) reported that “Suppliers say lockdowns in Shanghai and other areas of China are likely to delay restocking of promo products in North America.” The lockdown has created a huge pile-up of cargo ships near the Port of Shanghai. These ships are either waiting to get loaded or unloaded. How long will this last? It depends on the lockdown, and how the Chinese government handles the issue. Fortunately, Leatherman is in pretty good shape at the moment. Many other suppliers like SanMar (according to ASI) have anticipated this problem, and have stocked up on inventory, to above average levels. Other promotional product suppliers that saw this lockdown coming, also are probably prepared to meet customer demand this year.

Engraved Tools: The Good, Bad, and the Ugly

When you order engraved tools with your company logo, you usually want an attractive tool. You want tools that take a difficult job and make it easy. Here are some examples of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly ones.

THE GOOD

The best example of this category is the world famous Leatherman Wingman. It is also my personal favorite. It contains about every tool that you could ever need in an emergency. Pliers, wire cutter, knife, bottle opener, blister package opener, can opener, file, scissors, etc.

THE BAD

My example for this group is the inspection mirror/pickup tool. Not that it is a bad tool, but it reminds me of the mirror that my dentist uses just before he starts up his drill.

THE UGLY

This is a difficult category to fill. I suppose it would have to be this new crazy looking worklight. It has an integral flexible cable that you can twist into any shape you want. It’s kind of odd looking. Maybe even ugly.

Celebrate National Engineers Week with Engraved Leatherman Tools

National Engineers Week and Engraved Leatherman Tools
National Engineers Week

The full week surrounding George Washington’s birthday is National Engineers Week. The National Society of Professional Engineers created that week in 1951. They want to draw attention to the importance of engineers in our society.

How to observe this coming special week:

  1. Take an engineer to lunch.
  2. Post a picture on your social media showing an engineering marvel. It can be a bridge, kitchen gadget, tool, or a building or vehicle.
  3. Invite a local engineer to speak at a meeting of your chamber of commerce.
  4. Give all your engineer friends some engraved Leatherman tools. They will appreciate them.

How to Choose the Right Engraved Tools for Your Job

Which Leatherman Engraved Tool Do I Need?
Which Leatherman Engraved Tool Do I Need?

If you ever walked into a Harbor Freight store, you were probably overwhelmed by all the tools there. Many of them have specific purposes. They make you wonder if you should add them to your toolbox, just in case you need them some day. If you succumb to those buying pressures, you will soon have to buy more tool boxes to contain all your specialty tools!

There must be a better way to be prepared for most repair jobs. Consider Leatherman engraved tools. One small hand-held tool takes up very little space, yet is capable of doing

October 28th is “National First Responders Day”. These are the people who act quickly when an emergency arises. These are the people who run towards a problem when everyone else is running away. According to the CDC, 155 policemen and 97 firemen die each year performing their heroic jobs.

If you own a business, you can honor the First Responders by giving them Engraved Leatherman Tools with your company logo.

Does anyone have too many tools? Probably not. There’s a special tool for every job. If not, you can make one out of an existing tool, like bending a wrench to fit in a tight place on your car engine. Some guys like to buy tools that they don’t need right now, but think they would be good ones to have around just in case. That’s what I do. The best tools to “have around just in case” are Leatherman engraved tools. They can do a dozen different things, and come in a small package. They can take the place of a dozen specialty tools, so your toolbox won’t be so heavy.

Is This Any Way to Make Engraved Leatherman Tools?

Engraved Leatherman Tools were developed in the mind of Tim Leatherman in the 1970’s. That was way after the age of the caveman. But today’s Leatherman tools look a lot neater and professional than the original prototypes that Tim made in the late 70’s. He made the initial models in his garage, using the equipment and material that he was able to get at the time. Today his company is growing at a fast rate. His products are in demand around the world, only 40 years after they were first developed. Here are some examples of Tim’s first prototypes, which are on display in the front office of his Portland Oregon factory….
